The real question is if anyone has seen excessive wear from using a metal Super Safety?
FunYun I assume you are referring to receiver wear. I've run metal cams in plastic and metal lowers without any signs of wear. The surface pressure is simply not high enough to cause a problem, assuming the cams surface is not particularly rough.
At some point the SS might be what gets me to go down the lost PLA casting road.
j2a just posted a discussion on this and have been experimenting with it quite a bit. Look for "casting super safety? I think yes"
I’ve seen another twin bros like company selling them and there are being sold on Etsy sometimes I’ve gotten many quotes for getting the parts 3d printed in steel and it’s around $30 per part before shipping it be better to order this from a USA based printer to avoid itar issues I’m planing on ordering some but am afraid for my dog
mizer19 would love to see how this goes and how expensive it ends up being
Hoffman do you think I would run into issue getting a local metal 3d printer to print for me I’ve talked with them in the past about printing a binary trigger for me and we’re happy to give me a quote
mizer19 please do! I am planning to do the same and would very much like to hear how it goes for you.
How about carbon fiber, or kevlar? You can print those at home with the right printers and filaments.
TheElderBrother PA12-CF is what I had the most success with. Works pretty good.
I’d love to know how you did yours. I brought your files and guide to a local machinist and he said it would take very small and expensive tools. He wanted to design to make it “easier” to machine, but I would like to stay true to what you built.
Also if I 3dprint the arm from PA6-CF and have a stainless cylinder how long do you think that would last?
SteveTheBeard I've seen some printed levers randomly break, but in general they last a pretty long time.
Oh, and you are my hero! You are doing amazing things and we all love you!
hoffmantactical Agreed. They work well in this filement. Somewhat slipery without oil (be sure to lube) and very durable. Print extra cams and levers just in case.
How about pre-modified triggers?
oliveindustry I had a batch made during testing. It could definitely be a thing. However, modifying them is so easy to do I'm not sure it's worth the trouble.
Greymarketresearch - Metal versions and a 308 option.
They also have kits with pre-modifided triggers and a Jig to DIY.
Stainless
BattlePro They do exist...
BattlePro was this cast and if so where can I find more information
