PhysicsNurd What lower did you have to cut the shelf on?
What barrel length are you using?
What angle does the rearward travel of the lever reset the trigger it should be near vertical (when you feel it push your finger forward).

Also you did not have to cut the lip on the upper, if you were experiencing bolt bind I recommend filing the surface of the lever that contacts the BCG. The amount needed is usually less than a hairs width see highlighted surface in green below. Function checking between filing passes, then polishing when complete.
