Super safety issue

Brock7258

When i shoot my rifle in super safe mode it fires once and the hammer stays in the forward position and it wont shoot again. But when i test the functions of the super safety by holding down the trigger and pulling back the charging handle it works just fine. I have tried everything, i replace my trigger assembly with a mil spec trigger assembly and made sure the back corner of the trigger is cut down. I also have a full auto bcg and h2 buffer, and i cut down part of the upper receiver so the lever does not get stuck. Im at a dead end here

Did you guys buy metal super safeties, if so from where?
Also did you tune/modify the lever? When you say you tested it with the charging handle how hard/fast did you pull back, before modifying my levers the bolt would get stuck in the rear, I think that the lever could be causing too much friction slowing the bolt down and causing hammer follow?

I filed down this surface to fix the bolt getting stuck in the rear, maybe it's also what is causing your issue if you haven't done this modification/tune yet.

This ☝🏼

undeadchew yes its a metal ss, i bought it from deeznutstactical i did file down the top surface of the lever. Im pretty sure i took enough material off, was afraid to take too much off. When i pulled back the charging handle and tested the functions i pulled it back pretty hard and fast since i have a heavy buffer. The trigger pull feels normal as well. I do have a low shelf lower but i filed it down a bit just incase. I did buy the trigger pre-cut so i doubt it would be that.

There is a thin “shelf” of aluminum on the upper receiver just in front of the rear take down pin hole that needs to be removed. That will keep your bolt from getting stuck or binding when it’s towards the rear of its cycle, and hopefully no filling of the lever is necessary.

LocoEngr This is the wrong approach, the upper should not be modified. Instead the lever should be filed or ground.

Brock7258

LocoEngr i already Dremmeld that part out

It works well but I’m not going to argue with the man who designed it. It’s also what GMR says to do when the BC binds towards the end of its rearward travel. So, the correct way is to trim the lever? The top of the lever, or the tail (facing the receiver extension)?

Brock7258

I might just buy a new rifle at this point and try it on that.

hoffmantactical

Brock7258 Or just swap the upper out for a new one.

I filed down the surface of the GMR/DNT lever as shown in the picture to alleviate binding of the BCG to the rear. No modification to upper or lower.
