What programs/tools is everyone using for texturing your models. More specifically I'm working on a remix of the 4.8 super lower as well as the orca and would like to recreate the original stippling for those so that everything matches. Interested in other methods as well so comment below but would like my current project to look like the original files.
texturing and grip stippling
Solidworks. There was a stream on YouTube with Hoffman and Chairman Won where they went over the process I think. I can dig up the video here shortly. Since I already work in it, it's an easy step to do final texturing in the same software. I hear some people use Blender but I've not tried it yet.
Aha, no it was Neutron Nick. About an hour and ten minutes in they get to the texturing part.

Another option is to make a slice modifier where you add fuzzy skin to certain areas. Would require you to model a part that covers the area you want textured and apply the fuzzy modifier to it in you slicer when you overlay the modifier part with your actual model. Been thinking of making a video detailing how to do it. I think Hoffman may have actually covered it in one of his streams but I dont remember which one.

80percent_pimp I use the texturing tool in Solidworks. I know that Blender can do texturing as well, but have never used it. For reference I use the following texture settings in Solidworks:
- Honeycomb Texture
- 0.2" Auto Mapping
- Black Up
- 0.04" Height
- 50% Refinement
- 0.05" Max Element Size
Awesome thanks for the link, I'll check it out. Is this possible on the free version? Solid edge I think it's called? The fuzzy skin method is pretty cool too, I have done this with some of qwerms designs.
80percent_pimp I don't think SolidEdge has a texturing tool, unfortunately.
80percent_pimp Blender is the only free option that I know will work well enough.
I've tried blender and don't really like the way it paints on the textures, if you know what I mean. If theres a better way I'm willing to give it a try.
Currently I think I'm gonna see if I know anyone with solidworks that will allow me to use it, or add the textures for me.
hoffmantactical thanks for the settings, this helps a lot.
went ahead and got myself a solidworks license, and i got my texturing done.
heres the sl15 mono
80percent_pimp Awesome! Still needs a hose clamp though
