HT SS Not working

I have a HT super safety installed, local gun dealer told me to try an H3 buffer after asking his opinion on why it wasn’t working. Still nothing after H3 installation. It fires exactly the same as semi auto does.

lhageman1 How does the SS function test without the upper on? Does it push your finger forward?

When I lock the hammer back, it pushes my finger forward slightly, I get the exact same thing in semi auto mode as well.

lhageman1 So yeah this doesn't have anything to do with buffers, the SS should be able to function test in just the lower receiver alone. To me this sounds like a poorly cut trigger or out of spec cam, can we see the trigger's rounded corner, and the cam surfaces?

lhageman1 The cam should not be pushing the trigger forward in semi, could you show us the cam surfaces, and another angle of the trigger corner for thickness? It seems to be very close to the correct profile but sometimes a hand fit or self cut trigger this trigger could be overcut for your cam.

undeadchew hey sir, I won’t be able to get the correct Allen wrench to take the cam out until after work tommorow. Excuse my ignorance, but is the hammer supposed to be getting locked back in SS after every shot?

undeadchew I found my issue, after pulling my BCG out of my upper and manually shoving it back into the buffer tube, it isn’t pushing the lever back far enough to unlock my trigger.

When function testing without the upper on, manually push the lever to the rear it should engage the safety and push your finger forward when the lever is vertical or nearly 90 degrees perpendicular to the lower. If you need to push the lever towards the end of travel too far past where it should reset this indicates that you most likely have an overcut trigger, I recommend cutting a new trigger with less material removed than this one.

I installed super safety on PSA .300 blackout pistol changed buffer to h3. When first test fired worked. But now it will only shoot like 3 or 4 round burst then light primer strike. Only thing I know left to try is buying adjustable gas block, will that fix problem or what else can I try?

Bigdeal001 You can try any of the diagnostic steps that focus specifically on the lever, cam, and trigger functionality.

At what angle does the lever reset or push your finger forward it should be nearly vertical. If your lever resets too far to the rear like in my last picture I posted that means most likely your trigger is out of spec by being over cut.

Assuming you purchased your last trigger, I recommend cutting your own that way you can hand fit it to function properly.
